CCTV cameras collect dust, hard disks wear out, and network equipment can fail without warning. An annual maintenance contract (AMC) arranges regular checks of your system for a year, so problems are found before you need the footage or the network.

What an AMC usually covers
Every AMC is different. A maintenance visit for a CCTV system typically includes:
cleaning each camera and checking its picture and focus
checking the recorder is recording, and how many days of footage it holds
checking hard disk health
checking cables, connectors, power supplies and the UPS
checking the date and time, and remote viewing
For networks, checks cover switches, Wi-Fi, cabling and the rack. For attendance systems, they cover the devices, enrolled users and reports.
How an AMC fits with repairs and upgrades
An AMC is about prevention and regular care. Whether faults between visits, replacement parts and upgrades are included depends on the contract, so check the quotation for each of these.
